The apps to stream live with your smartphone

With the current performance of smartphones in terms of photography and video, not having a professional camera is no longer a problem to stream your event live. Here are some video capture apps to stream live from your phone anywhere, anytime.
Whether you have the latest iPhone or an Android phone, rest assured: you have everything you need to stream live video. Indeed, recent smartphones are now very well equipped for photo and video (HD quality at least), even in entry-level models.
To broadcast your video, and accompany you in the use of our platform, you must first choose a video capture app. Here are the apps we advise you to use when you prepare a Vodalys.Studio campaign.
Prerequisite
Generally speaking, to make a live video capture with a cell phone and the Vodalys.Studio platform, follow these steps :
- Install an App on your phone among those we propose (or another one you prefer!)
- Add a “smartphone” source in your Vodalys.Studio project
- Enter your email in this smartphone source and validate
- Retrieve on your smartphone the email sent by Vodalys.Studio. Go to your app (in the app, generally go to settings/streaming platform or broadcast) and copy and paste the 2 important information to send your smartphone live video stream to Vodalys.Studio : the “RTMP server” url (generally rtmp://live.vodalys.studio/live) and the “Stream Key”.
- You are ready to broadcast !
Remark : we have noticed that globally, the best performances for these applications are realized on iPhone.
Larix Broadcaster app
Larix Broadcaster allows you to stream live video and/or audio content from your smartphone in real time over multiple connection types: Wifi, 3G, LTE and 5G via SRT/RTMP/RTSP/RIST.
In addition to being free, the app has excellent video quality and a complete setup that is very intuitive and easy to use. It offers a multitude of features that will allow you to make your live while having fun! And moreover Larix Broadcaster is compatible with Vodalys.Studio… So go for it!

MojoPro app
This app, edited by Aviwest, has been selected by the first French television channel and many TV channels for its mobile video sources. Very easy to use once configured, the app allows to send the live video signal, and can be used in portrait or landscape mode.
You can also control the volume of the sound input, which can be useful in noisy environments. The settings allow you to select the frame rate, the resolution, or the latency.
The app cannot be used on its own, but can be used in conjunction with Aviwest’s StreamHub server to better manage bitrate adaptation based on your connection quality. Contact Aviwest to get it and use it with Vodalys.Studio.

GoPro Quik app
Another solution that we propose is the Go Pro App if you own the camera of the same name. The latest version of the famous camera has just been released and its quality is excellent, almost comparable to DSLRs, for a greatly reduced size. The icing on the cake is that it is compatible with live broadcasting. It is a very good complement to your smartphone.
Once the app is connected to the camera, take control of it to manage your video stream as you wish. The advantage here will be to have a very small camera and excellent quality, allowing you to be even more creative in the realization of your shots!
